Ormiston Medical has welcomed Dr John Sison to the team, bringing nearly a decade of experience across Auckland’s health system and a strong passion for community-based care.
Dr Sison graduated from the University of Auckland in 2016 and completed his junior doctor training primarily at Middlemore Hospital before moving into general practice in 2019. Over the past several years, he has worked across both East and South Auckland, building extensive experience in urgent care, acute injuries, long-term health management and family medicine.
Now based at Ormiston Medical, Dr Sison says joining a practice in the community where he and his family already live felt like the right fit.
“My family is local, our children go to school nearby, and I really enjoy being part of this community,” he says. “General practice is about building trusted relationships over time and helping people stay well through every stage of life.”
Patients can see Dr Sison for everything from everyday health concerns and ACC injuries through to preventative care, chronic condition management and ongoing family healthcare.
Known for his approachable style and genuine interest in people, Dr Sison says one of the most rewarding parts of general practice is getting to know patients over time and supporting them through their health journey.
Outside of medicine, he enjoys technology, gaming, basketball, football and spending time outdoors with his family.
Dr John Sison is currently welcoming new patients to enrol at Ormiston Medical. To enrol or book an appointment, contact the clinic on 09 265 1325.
Meet Victoriya – A fresh face & a familiar warmth

We are thrilled to introduce General Practitioner Victoriya, the latest addition to the Ormiston Medical Centre family. With a rich clinical background, a genuine passion for patient relationships, and a personal commitment to health and wellbeing, Victoriya brings a wonderful depth of experience and warmth to our practice.
From Urgent Care to Continuity of Care
Victoriya’s journey into general practice is one shaped by a desire for balance — both professionally and personally. After spending a significant portion of her career working in South Auckland’s busy urgent care clinics, she found herself drawn to the deeper, more meaningful connections that come with long-term patient care.
In urgent care, you rarely get the chance to follow a patient’s journey over time. Coming to Ormiston Medical Centre means she can now build real continuity with patients and their families — and that’s something she’s genuinely looking forward to.
“I’m really excited about building those ongoing relationships and connections. Knowing a patient’s history, seeing their family grow — that’s what general practice is all about.”
Areas of Expertise & Interest
While GP Victoriya is a confident and capable generalist — comfortable seeing patients of all ages and backgrounds — she brings two particular areas of depth to her consultations. She holds a postgraduate certificate in Paediatrics, making her a great choice for families with young children. Her background in midwifery also gives her a uniquely holistic perspective on women’s health, from reproductive and hormonal concerns through to pregnancy care and beyond.
Victoriya enjoys the variety that general practice offers and welcomes patients with a broad range of health concerns — no matter how big or small.
What Excites Her About Ormiston Medical Centre
One of the things that drew Victoriya to Ormiston Medical Centre specifically is the practice’s offering of immigration medical examinations. Having worked across a number of different clinics, she is looking forward to seeing how Ormiston approaches this important service and contributing her own experience to the process.
Beyond that, it’s the culture of the team that resonated most. She wanted to join a practice where the focus is really on the patient — and Ormiston has exactly that.
Life Outside the Clinic
When she’s not in the consultation room, Victoriya lives by the same principles she encourages in her patients: looking after yourself first. A firm believer in self-care, she prioritises her own health and fitness and enjoys reading — with a particular love for books on wellness and exercise.
She’s also a proud mum, and her little one keeps her plenty busy when the workday is done. That blend of personal insight — understanding the real demands of family life, work-life balance, and staying well — means Victoriya can meet her patients not just as a doctor, but as someone who truly gets it.
Book a Consultation with Victoriya
Victoriya is now accepting new and existing patients at Ormiston Medical Centre. Whether you’re looking for a GP for yourself, your family, or a specific health concern – we’d love to welcome you.

Get the best after hours online doctor care with Practice Plus (when it suits you!)
How to see a qualified NZ doctor online after hours
3 quick steps to talk to a doctor online
Now, it’s easy to make an online doctor consultation in NZ:
2. Register (or login) to the portal and request an appointment by selecting a time or joining the queue.
3. Pre-pay for your consultation fee with a credit or debit card. Next, a link for your online doctor consultation link will arrive in your email.
Your virtual appointment link should arrive 15 minutes before the appointment. Afterwards, the Practice Plus doctor will also email any online prescription through to fill at any NZ pharmacy. Also, the GP will transfer your notes to the regular Patient Portal. Sharing the consult notes allows your regular GP to stay up-to-date with new conditions or medications. Of course, we’ll be sure the transfer of notes meets our high privacy standards.
Easy!
When should I see a doctor in person for Urgent Care?
There are times you will need to go to Urgent Care in person. So naturally, if a Practice Plus doctor thought you needed medical attention in person, they would advise you. Nearby on Botany Road, you’ll find the fantastic team at East Care Urgent Care. They’re open every day, 7 am – 11 pm. Visit their A&E for severe wounds, burns, fractures or allergic reactions. Furthermore, East Care’s one-stop-shop offers onsite services like x-ray and emergency dental.
As always, for severe injury or illness, don’t hesitate to:
- phone Emergency services on 111
- phone Healthline for advice on 0800 611 116
