Meet Dr. Sushruta – A Warm Welcome to Ormiston Medical

We’re excited to introduce Dr. Sushruta, one of the newest members of our general practice team. His career spans India, the UK, and now New Zealand, blending international experience with a compassionate, patient-first approach. After completing his medical training in India and postgraduate GP work in the UK, he moved to New Zealand in 2022, quickly adapting to our healthcare system. His background in cardiac surgery and geriatric medicine has shaped his attentive, detail-focused style of care.

A Passion for People and Procedures

While Dr. Sushruta enjoys all aspects of general practice, he has a growing interest in minor surgical procedures. He currently performs treatments such as incision and drainage and is eager to build on his procedural expertise. He values the variety and challenge that general practice offers, and believes procedural work adds another dimension to patient care. Above all, he’s committed to listening, understanding, and working alongside patients to achieve the best outcomes.

Life Beyond the Clinic

Outside of work, Dr. Sushruta enjoys exploring Auckland’s beautiful walking trails, playing table tennis, and cooking tasty vegetarian meals. He also has a passion for writing and often reflects on memorable patient interactions. Since joining Ormiston Medical, he’s been impressed by the supportive, well-organised environment, saying, “It feels good to be in a place where you can focus on doing your best for patients.”  We’re delighted to have him on board and look forward to the skills, care, and energy he brings to our community.
